Accessing the Database

• Search the database
  Allows you to create your own search of the database. You can call up information about saints by name, ethnicity, type, and gender; or their devotees by name, type and gender. Also you can examine dedications by type, date, and location specified in a variety of ways.
• Show data using interactive map
  Opens our online interactive mapping capabilities. This feature plots criteria of your choosing onto an interactive map of Scotland. Here, you can see how church and altar dedications were distributed across Scotland. Or you can break down Scottish dedications by century to see how the dedications changed over time.
• Download the entire database for detailed analysis
  Gives you free use of all data recorded in Database of Medieval Dedication to Saints in Scotland. This is intended for those who wish to create more complex queries using the data in the database. The database is in Microsoft Access 2000 format and the accompanying database documentation is in Microsoft Word. To use the database, you will need to be familiar with database concepts and software. The database does not have a user interface (i.e. forms) and the project cannot provide any user support. [This option will be available in December after the uploading of additional data by the project team]
• Send comments, corrections and additions to the project team
  It is intended that the database will be periodically updated and expanded to include the results of surveys of published and archival material not covered by the original project and any additional references submitted to the project team.
